A journey blossoming from a lockdown hobby to flourishing small business.
Hi! I'm Livvy
I am the proud founder of Kinglet Flowers. My story began in 2020 when the world grappled with the challenges of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Like many others, I found myself facing a sudden loss of work as a costume maker. Needing to find a creative outlet for myself I threw myself into the garden growing everything and anything, selling surplus plants from a children's play table at the top of my husbands family run Sawmill. During this time, I discovered a newfound passion for something that wasn’t costume making - flowers.
The following year, I carved a small patch of ground out in the corner of my husband's field and began sowing, growing and selling homegrown flower posies on a small roadside stand as a side hobby to my full time job!
Well…..
It was never going to stay as just a hobby, the field grew bigger the greenhouse became fuller and my dream of becoming a flower farmer had formed! So in 2023 Kinglet Flowers had a name!
From that point on, I have read books, attended courses on funeral flowers/ wedding flowers and general floristry to learn everything I can about growing flowers and the skills I need to turn what I grow into beautiful arrangements.
As of autumn 2024 we are excited to announce we are expanding our operation into a bigger field with far easier growing conditions. This will allow us to provide more quantity of flowers and variety and we are so excited to get started.
Our Ethos
Here at Kinglet flowers we want to grow flowers working with nature as opposed to against it. We adhere to sustainable practices in our field by refraining from using pesticides, fungicides or synthetic fertilisers, opting for organic, natural options using locally sourced compost, seaweed feed and the use of nematodes for natural pest control. We welcome a host of wildlife that have made our flower patch their home and food source, helping us keep the pests population under control.
Our flowers all come without unnecessary plastics and we never use floral foam in any of our arrangements. We prefer using materials such as sustainably sourced moss, branches and other natural materials instead. All our flowers come wrapped in tissue paper and brown paper tied with twine.
We are passionate about British flowers and want to raise awareness of the significance of locally grown blooms and how beautiful British grown flowers can really be!
